Mani on my sister-in-law

I like doing other peoples nails.  I'm not big on freehand design, so I like to play with colors, finishes and decorations.  This is the second time doing my sister-in-law's nails.  Her nails are very short & cute :) and if where not for her, my crackle polish won't be receiving much love.

She saw a similar design on an Avon catalog and wanted me to duplicate it.  The model in the catalog had 3 colors under the crackle, but since her nails are so short, we decided to try with just 2 and do a accent nail in a total different theme: holo and hearts

used:
China Glaze Solar Power
Sinful Colors Timbleberri
Wet N Wild Blue wants to be a millionaire
Kleancolor Twinkly Love (hearts) & Tiara Gold
China Glaze Black Mesh

Late on challenges: Glitter Bomb

On BBPR we have weekly challenges. The challenge some weeks ago was a glitter bomb mani.  I was tight on time so I decided to use pictures from a prior attempt at it.  Didn't post them on time because of school and some personal stuff I was dealing with.  Because I have so much going on right now I was thinking about going on Hiatus for a while.  I like to be consistent on posting, but it is getting a bit difficult now. I blog for fun; this is not a job or a career. Feeling pressured to post and meet deadlines here when my personal stuff and academics needs more attention its not fun -nor right-  If you read me regularly, thank you!! for sticking around, even when I've been a bad blogger  :)

Its 5:13 am in Puerto Rico and I just finished one of the 4 essays for my Spanish class.  I'm so tired I can't sleep, so thought this would be the perfect time to post my glitter bomb

Used China Glaze Silver Lining, Claires Glitter Top Coat and Sinful Colors Call you Later on my ring finger with an additional thin coat of Clares GTC. I decided to add China Glaze Black Mesh.

Sinful Colors Whats your name + Hottie

Hello!
This has to be one of my favorite combos, Whats your name + an accent nail with Hottie.  The glitter specs on WYN where difficult to catch and the pictures really don't make justice.  Oh how I love dark polishes!

Sinful Colors Easy Going

Hi!
You guessed right, another nail polish post. I haven't buy much makeup lately but have a bunch of untried nail polishes. I'm now a bit more into nail art, so for a while there will be mostly nail polish related post.  Hope you don't mind :)

Easy Going is a very pale pink creme.  I found most SC polishes to be watery, but easy going is quite thick and completely opaque in two coats.  Because when I took the pictures I was more tanned it looks more white than pink.  I'm not sure whether stash it to use it as a base for sheer polishes, do french / stamping or give it away.  On this pictures think I did one of my sloppiest applications ever.  The day was insanely humid and they took ages to dry; I removed it after a couple hours.

Just...Epic...

Sinful Colors Timbleberry

Alo!
Today I'll share with you maybe one of the most problematic polishes to photograph that I own: Sinful Colors Timbleberry.  In person is a very bright coral with a hint of pink, opaque with 2 coats but I used 3 because I love how super shinny it gets :)  I like this color so much that I even wore it on my toes; which is extremely rare.  I don't like my toes and prefer to use nude and discrete shades like China Glaze Cashmere Creme, when I'm all jolly I would use Path Santa during Christmas.
But back to Timbleberry, it was very difficult to photograph because it always turned too pink.  I tried with 2 digital cameras, tweaked flash & camera settings, tried with my cellphone. With my cellphone one of the pictures came out looking almost neon, the next one came close, but still not the real thing :\

Today's pearl of wisdom:

China Glaze Señorita Bonita

Hi lovelies!
Today's nail post is about China Glaze Señorita Bonita, from the Island Escape collection.  I got it a while ago, but due to tech difficulties was unable to download the pictures.
Señorita Bonita as pink glass flecks glitters and depending on the light the color changes from purple to pink or to blue-ish purple.  At first I didn't like it on my nails, but the next day after painting them I was loving it, mostly because how it changes depending on lighting conditions.

Don't know why, but there is a weird halo in the tips of my nails...funky huh?

Guest Post by Fernanda: Risqué azulcrination & star

Hello!
I'm very happy & excited about this post, because its the first time I have a guest posting at Random Stash.
By the tittle you already know her name is Fernanda, she is one of my facebook friends.  She's from Brazil and I was for a long time intrigued to now more about the brands that are popular there. In Puerto Rico pretty much all the nail polishes marketed are from US, so seeing something different was refreshing!  I got brave and ask her if she was interested in sharing some swatches here and she agreed :D THANK YOU girl!!!

It comes in six different types

"Star" - Gray glitter
"Isabeli" - A really dark and metallic purple.
"Psico" - Metallic Purple
"Tattoo" - Dark Metallic Gray
"Rock 'n Roll" - Metallic Gray

I'm using my favorite one, Azulcrination (first picture), and then Azulcrination+Star (second picture).

nail art: let me have a cupcake

Hi!
These days, cupcake nail art is the only kind I can have lol
I gave it  try before removing my old mani.  I want to practice more and get some new colors & glitters to do them in all my nails with different colors.

The  base is Wet n Wild Jade. I did the stripes simulating the cup using a mini flat brush that came in a eyeshadow trio and tooth pics to draw the rest. Used Sinful Colors Innocent for the stripes, SH Xtreme wear in White Out for the frosting, China Glaze Rich & Famous for the cherry, Nina Ultra Pro Black for the cherry stem and Claire's glitter top coat on top of the frosting to simulate sprinkles :)

Challenge Accepted - Polka Dots

Hi!
We are having a weekly challenge on BBPR, this week is polka dot nails. I was playing to see if the color scheme look good  I ended loving it! I know its super simple, but still cute?. I wish I had the opportunity to be more creative but with the hurricane Irene going on this week I knew my nails would take ages to dry, so I only did this test. The white base is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in white out and used a tooth pick to make the dots.

colorful animal print

Hope you are having a good week.  Mine started good but then it all came to pain and muscle relaxers because I hurt my lower back :(  but thanks to the medication I'm sleeping a lot and feeling better!
Talking about being sick, my friend Noelia from Its not my life anymore is sicky too, so please send health vibes her way too :)

Rant end- now to the nail stuff!
I've decided to venture more into nail art, trying simple little things and this is one of my latest attempts.

I don't have any nail art tools, so I just practiced the design on a false nail and used tooth picks to draw. My original plan was to add Sinful Colors Call You Later on top, but thought it look cuter without it.

what I used:
Beauty Secrets base & top coat
Wet N Wild Jade (234) as color base
for the nail art:
Wet n Wild mega shine polish in Lavender Creme
Nina Ultra Pro polish in black

I got Jade like a year ago and never used it before because on swatches it look to sheer.  After 3 coats it was fully opaque and it dried very quick.  I love how this color looks on the sun! Lavender Creme was another untried. From Wet n Wild I also have Sparked and East Village in the untried bin - I need to paint my nails more often.

adventures in water marble nails

Hi!
Another nail related post - looks like nail polish is taking over me and I like it!
This one is old. I wasn't going to post it because all the pictures where blurry, but after more than 5 tries at it I just couldn't delete them. I did this at the beginning of July.  My intentions where to do it to all my nails but I was running late for my grandmother birthday and settled just for an accent nail. On the rest of the nails I'm wearing Sinful Colors Forget Now - only 2 coats, there was no time for a third or even top coat.

for the water marble I choosed the colors randomly.  I've watching videos about it that might help me to get better results next time :)

nail art - ish

Hi gorgeous!
First, I want to thank everyone that have taken from their time to be part of the blog. I recently reached the 50 subscribers milestone - Woop Woop! Special thanks to Poly because she noticed it, I didn't hahaha.  I wish I could do a giveaway right now to celebrate. My plan couple months ago was to have enough prices for 2 winners: 1 from US and 1 international but being unemployed and almost broke came in the middle :( . But I'm optimistic that better things will come, hopefully; funds for the giveaway will be one of them - so stay tuned!  And again: thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Ok, now to the nail art - ish part of the post...
I've got bored of painting my nails with just one shade. God knows I'm no good when it comes to drawing; less to nail art. Some time ago I purchased some stamping plates from Born Pretty, and maybe its just me or the polishes I use; but I can't make them work - the designs hardly transfer. Anyway, I decided to layer some polishes and add an accent nail with a stamping plate for a change. I got inspired by Lindsay from Pixie Polish - she did something similar time ago and I loved it!

failed mani: Sinful Colors Lets Meet

I got Lets Meet while Walgreens had a sale, haul here. I've never been fond of yellow shades, but I wanted to try different colors and anyway, this was one of the few polishes left. I haven't found a yellow polish that I like on my and this is no exception, specially now that my hands are tanned.
This polish was very sheer even after 3 coats. I took it off and decided to layer it over a coat of Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in White Out to get more opacity. The color by itself is very pretty, so summery! but it looks awful on me. Pictures where taken with my phone cause the camera battery died. I was decided to wear this polish no mater what! Thought there was nothing that glitter couldn't resolve; that's when I decided to layer random glitters until I found something of my liking...but no, glitter let me down this time and ended up removing it all and leaving my nails naked :(
