Sally Hansen: Salon Complete Manicure in All Fired Up

All Fired Up is the perfect cherry tomato shade.  Red (or any variant of it) is timeless, a classic and this shade particularly would be perfect for summer - both hands & toes -

It has a great formula; opaque in two coats and a shinny & smooth finish.

I imagine it would look gorgeous with some golden studs or a copper/bronze stamping over it.

What I Used:
- China Glaze Silver Lining
- Wet n Wild wild shine Tickled Pink
- Wet n Wild megalast I Red a Good Book
- white & red acrylic paints to outline the triangles
- stripper brush

Pimping up a simple but already sparkly manicure

This manicure went trough three steps: single color - layering and finally a flashy revamp!
For this look, next day I layered two more coats of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Chrome, then added purple diamond-shaped glitters and a stick-on flower decal on my ring finger.

I now I'm not alone on this: can't sport just one color on my nails.  I will paint them in a single color because I don't like to leave then naked and then ideas starts to flow, next thing I now there are a ton on things going on.

This time after swatching LA Colors Metallic Red I decided to layer Kleancolor Chunky Holo Chrome over it.  The look is quite simple but fun.  It reminds me of confetti :)

This story will continue...knew I had to pimp this mani a bit more!

LA Colors :color craze: metallic nail polish in red

I have a trio of this LA Colors metallic polishes that doesn't have a name to identify the colors; this one I'll obviously call it Red.  To me it doesn't look that metallic at all, but it is a lovely red, on the red cherry side.  Two coats and you are good to go but three will make it look more metallic.  It dries at average pace and has a good consistency.

1st Random Stash challenge: makeup for a red dress

Last Saturday I went to a wedding and the color scheme was black, white and red. The invitation asked to wear something red; so I planned to wear this simple red dress.

I've never whore a red dress before so I was debating what to wear for makeup. While looking for ideas and inspiration to get my makeup done for that evening I thought it would be fun to create a challenge around it :)  This is no competition or prices associated with it, just a fun way to share our different takes on what would look good with a red dress.

Guidelines:

- The challenge will be open indefinitely

- Everyone can play; you don't need to be a follower of my blog ( but It will mean the world to me if you where!)

What to do to participate:

- Create a makeup look to pair with a red cocktail dress and post it in your blog. The post can be as extensive or short as you want.

- You can show only eyes (eotd), eyes and lips or full face (fotd); what ever makes you feel comfortable but pictures have to be yours and your own work. If your thing are nails, you can participate too!

SinfulColors: Rich In Heart

I love SinfulColor polishes! Own quite a few of them now that I paint my nails more - still, I miss my acrylics
One of my favorite SC is Rich In Heart.  I've wore it so many times but this was actually the first time I've taken pics of it.  Pictures might not be totally color-accurate, but if you haven't tried it yet this could give you an idea on how it looks.  Its a vampy burgundy shade with sort of a dark magenta sparkle, found consistency to be too tick for my liking at first but it looked nice after two coats

Review: Avon smooth velvet lip color

I was excited to receive this product because I've decided to wear read lipstick again. Have not been able to find "my shade of red" but I'm pretty confident with this one. Got it with a Glimmerstick liner, both for $8.99

Product description according to Avon:

"You’ve never felt color like this before…velvety smooth, intensely saturated shades infused with rich moisturizing conditioners – it’s the newest way to lavish your lips! Supremely sumptuous color for full, shapely lips that always look lush, plush and gorgeous. Precision applicator. .24 fl. oz."

my definition: with the Smooth Velvet lip color you get a mixture between a lipstick, a lip butter and a stain.

I ordered it in Sassy.  The preview in the tube looks like nothing special. Once applied to lips shows like a true red. On my lips looked little darker but not much.

It has super creamy -almost pasty- consistency that might be good and bad at the same time.  It gives lips a fuller and smooth appearance but only after you manage to work it; first time use could get a little messy.

First time I applied it alone and the shade came out vivid, had a hard time containing it inside my lip line and really had to work it to get an even coating due to the pasty consistency.  Then decided to try it using lip balm first, then applying the Elf Lip Lock and it was a charm!  Noticed it was easier to apply and since its super pigmented the lip balm didn't rest intensity to the color.  If you blot excess will look like a stain but more pigmented.  If you have a case of really cracked / dry lips I recommend to exfoliate first.  I didn't re apply after 6 hrs of use -i was drinking and eating- because I liked the stain kind of look.  You can re apply if needed but I must say, with this product a little goes a long way.

With this product also noticed that my face look like I had full makeup on when it was only moisturizer and the lip color.  Think that maybe this was because of its creamy consistency and pigmentation.  Sassy is a very bold and vibrant shade; but it doesn't look trashy or overdone.  The smell is great! its like sugar cookies...have to admit that I felt tempted to taste it LoL
The only thing that I don't like so much is the pasty consistency, its difficult to work with but not impossible so I might re purchase in different shades.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick

In terms of beauty / makeup products I've modernized about 2 - 3 years ago.  Before that I was very classic / traditional in terms of branding.  I normally used Estee Lauder, Elizabeth Arden, Clinique, Lancome & Dermablend because it was what my mother and aunts used, and they where the one who teach me how to use this and that.

Discovering new, more accessible and budget-friendly brands have get me away from the ones that used to be my favorites.  Last Christmas my cousin and aunt got me a kit from the holiday collection.  It included 4 Pure Color lipsticks [$22]

I like all of them but having trouble with Tiger Eye.  Don't mind that is sheer;  it looks nice alone, over other lipsticks and lip liners; but I can literally feel the chunks of gold glitter on it and it doesn't last as long as the other ones :(
